Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

THE PITCH

WORTH
$$$$$

THE VIEWING

"I can neither confirm nor deny any details about any operation without the permission of the Secretary."

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation stayed true to the MI infrastructure which has made it’s brand a legendary franchise.  That should bode well for most of us and then again perhaps not...  I observed a few complaints about the predictability of the story line despite the film’s loyalty to the original fan base.  Objectively, I can see both sides even though I lean more towards respecting the brand and them not trying to be something else.  Risky transformations/redirection of brand identity can work though. I cite Fast Five of the Fast & Furious franchise
The IMF is always running the risk of being shut down but that threat is imminent this narrative.  I really found this story interesting and unpredictable, two characteristics of any successful movie.  I thought this was one of the better chapters in the MI gift set.

Quick notation of a pleasantly hidden easter egg, I love the soft reverence to the classic Casablanca. Not only was a portion of the story there but the lead actress's name is Ilsa. The actress Rebecca Ferguson is Swedish like Ingrid Bergman… Selfishly I had to point that out because remember, Casablanca made my 15 Greatest Films of All-Time [so far] list.

So!!!  Worth Watching in my book!

Avengers: Age of Ultron

WORTH
$$$$$

THE VIEWING

"In a world this vulnerable, we need something more powerful than any of us."

Avengers: Age of Ultron was really good, I mean extremely good!  It is hard to type a respectable review because I am still absorbing all of it.  One thing's for certain… I need to see it again.  So much was thrown at us in the regard of existing character developing to new character introductions and their respectable build ups and arcs. All the while all this… action going on, It was almost a bit much, not too much though [key word is ‘almost’].

For the first The Avengers movie to set the bar as high as it did back in 2012, concern and doubt held me captive until the previews ended and the lights dimmed. Once the movie started all of that was cleared, in fact, the good people at Marvel studios has earned the benefit of the doubt.

So much happened so fast that I don’t even want to waste anymore of your time.  As I stated earlier not only do I want to view it again I most definitely want to experience it again as well.
Worth watching, worth EVERY dollar spent and every dollar to be spent watching it again.

by now you should know to wait for bonus material at the end of the closing sequence... there is nothing after the credits though :(

American Hustle

SHOTGUN MODE REVIEW
(trying to catch my blog up)

THE PITCH

WORTH
$$$1/2

THE VIEWING

This film started out soooooooooo incredibly slow.  As the story went along trying to explain the reason each character is what they are, it almost lost me to a pestering nap in the process. Right on time, just before my eyes started to close, the pace and the story started to gain a little speed. Now I'm up.  Plot twist, sub plot twist and insert a certain gangster now POW... I'm all in.
This was a very good film. A bit overrated from all the Oscar buzz but nice flick.  Based on a true story and the custom design to the wardrobes was all 70's authentic.  On par with Argo's excellent set design and costume design.

Worth watching.
