Salt - trailer (2010) HD HQ

-

The Pitch
The detainment of an unusual Russian within a CIA interrogation room warns of a highly trained (KA-12)Russian Spy with the intent to kill the American President.  He then points at Angelina Jolie. Now she must convince her peers that she is not who the mysterious Russian says she is.  City wide woman hunt, car chases and standoffs headed by America's most elite, can she survive? Can she prove her innocence? Is she a spy? Who is... SALT?

The View
Conroy-  I had no intentions of watching this movie, ESPECIALLY after her role in the horrid mothion picture'WANTED'. My expectations for this movie mirrored that of 'WANTED' but I was surprisingly wrong. I really liked this movie.  If you are a person that has to forensically micro-analyze the believeability of every shot, jump, move, or situation in an action flick you might grimace at some of this movies intense moments.  If your ready for a thrilling, (summer)smart, movie that you can really get into, this is it.
Definitely Worth Watching, I give it a strong B+.

Toy Story 3 - Official Trailer [HD]

-

The Pitch
Time has passed and it looks like Andy has grown and is off to college.  What to do about those toys that accompanied him through the most impressionable years of his life?  Some frantic some calm, but no toy knows what future lies ahead of them. So the adventure begins, or their shelf life ends, in this light comedy about a toy's Story.

The View
Conroy-  It didn't matter that I missed Toy Story 2, TS3 was able to stand on its own. This movie earns a perfect 'A' from me.  The movie is awesome to look at 3D or standard. The story is very good.  A lot of moist eyes  and satisfied souls leaving out of the movie theater.
Frankly, if it's PIXAR vs. Dreamworks... PIXAR comes out on top to me.  They just know how to pull @ those heart strings!

Inception Trailer # 3

-

    The Pitch:
Leonardo’s character is some kind of conscience or dream prowler.  He says that he can perform different tasks inside one’s sub-conscience.  Is it legal? Is he good or evil?  Apparently he is lost or exiled and can return home with this proverbial ‘last job’. What happens when the dream collapse? When you enter a dream unprepared?

The View:
Conroy-  First, I am always in love with the way Christopher Nolan shoots his movies.  I love the vivid imagery and that loud subliminally thrilling music (especially that tuba!).   The movie starts that way but quickly becomes purposely perplexing. They did a great job of explaining the who, the why, and the where but suffered with the how.  Even though the ‘how’ was slightly insignificant to the development of the story it was irritating to wondering and curious minds not to know as the movie progressed;   Plausibility, to me, suffered because of that.  At times, I felt that the story tried too hard to be arcane.   Ken Watanabe’s (one of my favorite actors) English was difficult to understand and I fear that I missed some key information that was pertinent to the story.  A few of the decisions made in the movie made it hard for me to really get lost in the story because I felt “Hollywood-ism” reared its ugly head one time too many times.  Ultimately, I wasn’t too disappointed but felt that the movie left a lot of potential on the table.  Leaving the theater there was a mixture of applause and grumbling.
This is a deep movie so do not go if you are not in that “deep” mood.  I give it a very tentative “Worth Watching” letter grade: C+... this one could grow on me the more times I watch it.

Despicable Me - Official Trailer #4: Minions Steal YouTube

The Pitch:
A movie with a reverberated view about a super-villain. "Just because he's a bad guy, doesn't really mean that he's a bad guy" flick.  Enter three cute little girls, and an army of even more cute, non-threatening, high yellow minions [each with it's own personality]  and a badder guy inflicting more evil upon the earth.

The View:

Conroy-  Basically, I felt that I may have saw this story already just in a different movie.  So instead of assessing a familiar plot I want to evaluate how much fun I had getting from point "A" to a predicted point "B".  Speaking of the  word "B" I gave this flick a solid "B".  With movies like "The Incredible  and more recently, "How to Train your Dragon" the bar is set relatively high for an 'A'.  Obviously, Gru, the main character, has to "soften" up because of the three girls.  It's inevitable!!!  That process, even though you see it coming, was still pleasant, warm and funny.  Although it won't tug at your heart-strings as much as it's predecessors it is still effective and essential for a good story.  I really liked it.  Being a huge Steve Carell fan, I would of probably like it regardless although in here I try to stay as unbiased as possible.  His Ukrainian-ish accent and the manor of which he is drawn makes it impossible not to have a smirk on your face before he even does anything... those little minions help too.

Predators 2010 Movie Trailer [HD]

The Pitch:
Didn't see a lot of advertising for this one... WHY?!?!? This movie should have been marketed A LOT better than it was. The trailer suggest that there are a group of people that ended up on this planet unknowingly. Apparently, the planet is a game preserve for the unthinkables and now the group has to survive... Will they?

The View:

Conroy-  From the start I was concerned if we would receive a good story, we did:) Also, from the same start, I was mesmerized by the original 'Predator' score and a detailed jungle.  Two ingredients, if put together right, would predetermine a favorable movie experience by me.  ALL the characters were intriguing from start to finish not to mention a few a few SURPRISES!
Action was plentiful, the twist were more random than they were calculated and even the parts that slowed down were still intense to me.  Subplots and plenty of arcs in the cast of the 'unfortunates' to keep you INTO the flick till the finality of the retro 80's font credits hit the screen.
Gave this movie a solid A!!! Even though I would of liked to see more emotion when they realized that they were not on earth... that was not a spoiler per trailer.

Knight & Day - Launch Trailer

The Pitch:  Has the look & feel of a romantic comedy gone Mission Impossible. This movie looks like a "summer movie" filled with extremities that may not be plausible overall but 'fun'. Danger, charm and twists all while maintaining some form of comedy.

The View:

Conroy-  Looking at the film I was engaged from the start.  The movie had a favorable pace and maintained it.  I was genuinely interested in both Cameron's and Tom's characters.  The strength of the villain in this one  was respectful which made for an interesting plot/twist. Tom was able to keep an admirable charm through the entire flick. While Diaz's naiveness, per trailer, seemed appropriate and didn't stretch too far like most stories similar to this one.  Ultimately, I received a tad more than I was expecting when I walked in, although my expectation level was set at 'average'.  I gave it a C+ and like Amanda, I agree, go only if your looking for a romantic fun filled action packed night out. This movie is also rent worthy when it becomes available.

Quick side note... Leave "The Killers" alone.
