Get Hard

WORTH
$

THE VIEWING

"Sad Dog. I think that's a strategy that could work, don't sexually harass me I'm already sad..."

I thought that I may have unfairly compared Get Hard to other comedies that had a good buzz and delivered. Reality is… I didn’t. This was just a bad movie.  This movie gave me three grins and they were spaced out evenly through the duration of the film.
I won’t waste time with a lengthy review.  Honestly it was a waste of great comedic talent.  It felt as if they were making it up as they went along.
I can take crude humor but the “bathroom” scene took it way too far.  I actually had to look away from the screen. Enough! Let me wrap this up.
Not Worth Watching.  I can not even recommend renting this.  Such a shame too, so much untapped potential.

Think Like a Man Too

THE PITCH

WORTH
$$$$1/2

THE VIEWING

In the battle of the sexes I was determined to keep us ahead of the girls."

“Here we go”.  That was my initial ‘ho-hum’ feeling towards what seemed to be another sequel that was destined to be a money-grab, watered down and up, stretched out shallow follow-up… Once again I was wrong.  Turns out that Think Like a Man Too rivals the original.  Good laughs throughout the entire movie made for a very pleasant experience.  A little predictable though, that is the only way it missed an “A” letter grade.
Kevin Hart was at his finest.  Just when you think he broke the “overkill” threshold he presents a performance like this that shouts “I am still funny. I still know how to make you laugh”.  He had help, the rest of the crew was still funny and interesting as well.  There was so much energy[on-screen AND in the theater auditorium], so much laughter… it was hard to hear the second part of the joke because everyone was still laughing from the beginning of the first one. As a result raises the rewatch value, not only do I want to see it again because it was funny but I also want to catch all the dialogue I missed.
It is NOT the same but there is a little “Hangover” feel in this movie... adventure wise.  Point A very rarely lead to point B.  Not being sure what was around the next bend may have amplified most of the funny scenes.
Very much worth your money, I hope to see it again before it leaves the theater.

Ride Along

SHOTGUN MODE REVIEW
(trying to catch my blog up)

THE PITCH

WORTH
$$

THE VIEWING

I thought the movie was pretty funny.  Not very good imagination wise.  I have recently became a big Kevin Hart fan so gauge your interpretation of how funny this movie was by that.  I can definitely say I laughed out loud pretty hard maybe about four times.  Those moments where extremely spaced apart in between the length of the movie.

I would not pay full price to see this in the theater knowing what I now know... perhaps matinee.

Grudge Match

SHOTGUN MODE REVIEW
(trying to catch my blog up)

THE PITCH

WORTH
$$

THE VIEWING

Grudge Match wasn't too disappointing only because I didn't expect a whole bunch from it.  Grudge Match was exactly what I though it would be, no more and no less.  Having said that I am on the fence about whether or not the film is "Worth Watching".  I honestly feel like it's not.  If you absolutely have to see this movie just watch the trailer again. I jest.  Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin where pretty good but far away from any definitive work.

The story itself was mediocre.  I felt like I was watching a cut & paste collage filled with B-side Rocky edits and left over jokes from the shared concubines of both Hart and Arkin.  Conflict resolution was moderately suspenseful.  Direction was okay to good.

Not really worth it. Wait for the dvd to drop.
